Mimix targets mm-wave with GaAs PHEMTs
Mimix Broadband has broadened its range of transmitter products with the release of four new GaAs MMIC devices in surface-mount packages.
The Houston, TX, firm, which became fabless in April this year when it sold its Santa Clara, CA, facility to Universal Semiconductor Technology, is targeting a range of wireless communication applications, including millimeter-wave point-to-point radio, and very small aperture terminal (VSAT) satellite communication stations.
Said to feature high linearity, gain control and broadband performance in a low-cost package, the MMIC components are manufactured using a 0.15 µm GaAs PHEMT process, and together they cover the 10-45 GHz frequency range.
"By offering these highly integrated transmitters in true surface-mount packages, customers can lower their material and assembly costs compared to chip-and-wire assembly," said Mimix product manager Paul Beasly.
The four individual transmitter components operate at 10-18 GHz; 18-25 GHz; 19-26 GHz; and 35-45 GHz.
The transmitters are available in small production quantities now.
