Aixtron and Riber win orders from China
Aixtron and Riber have received orders for epitaxial tools from China.
Bookings for Aixtron's multi-wafer reactors by LED manufacturers, which are all repeat orders, are worth over € 7.5 million ($9.9 million). Installation will be completed during the second half of the year.
The value of Riber's order for a single-wafer Compact21T MBE research machine from the Chinese Research Institute was not disclosed.
Aixtron says that the bookings are further evidence of China's aim to become a major III-V chip manufacturer.
Bookings from the German company included orders for two of its largest capacity tools, the 30 x 2 inch CRIUS closed-coupled-showerhead reactor and the 42 x 2 inch AIX 2800G4 HT, which were released last year (see related story).
"Following the fast qualification of both our large capacity reactors at various customer sites we have gained recognition of our new technologies through these repeat orders," remarked Aixtron chief operating officer Bernd Schulte.
"We are pleased about the customer's confirmation of our technical improvements such as increased throughput, better maintenance, easier operation and handling, improved reliability and reproducibility," he added.
