Finisar to grab 10 Gbit/s transceiver sector
With the optical communication industry pinning its hopes on 10Gbit/s transmission rates and above, a money manager forecasts differing fortunes for some of the key compound semiconductor companies in the market.
Finisar is going to be the number one producer of next-generation small form factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver modules in the 10 Gbit/s ethernet market.
That s according to Andrew Schmitt of Boston-based Nyquist Capital, an investor in Finisar.
“Finisar supplies the majority of SFP modules in the world and is well placed to take advantage of the move to SFP+,” Schmitt told compoundsemiconductor.net.
