Silicon players come to Aixtron for LED entry
Despite economic worries, yet more firms are looking to make compound semiconductor chips for display backlighting, says the epitaxy equipment manufacturer.
Companies from outside the traditional LED sector are beginning to enquire about buying MOCVD reactors from Aixtron, which says the newcomers will end up dramatically reshaping the industry.
That is helping the German equipment maker stay confident that demand for the technology that is driving the vast majority of its sales will remain robust, although order activity is dropping.
