Team aims to redefine the ampere using GaAs

Metrology institute PTB has seen a big leap in the quality of crystals it is using to study current, thanks to an MBE reactor from Riber.

GaAs heterostructures grown by molecular beam epitaxy are playing a key role in a project seeking to overturn the conventional definition of electrical current.
