ISO/TS16949 certification for 3 Philips Lumileds sites
The ISO/TS16949 certification for three Philips Lumileds sites shows how committed the company is to quality, it has reported.
Philips Lumileds has had each of its three design, development and manufacturing sites certified with the ISO/TS16949, which highlights the company s commitment to quality management.
ISO/TS16949 is an international standard for suppliers in the automotive industry and Philips Lumileds qualified for the certification because of its work supplying LEDs to exterior vehicle applications.
The consistency of quality offered by the company was also highlighted as all three sites were certified with zero non-conformities.
Vice-president of quality and zero defect at Philips Lumileds Darren Smith said: "This is an ongoing effort through which we will continue to minimise defects, variance and waste in the production process for our LUXEON, SnapLED and SuperFlux products."
According to the firm, it is important that LED components are of a high standard because they are often fit for life.
Philips Lumileds has also achieved Best in Class recognition in the Next-Generation Luminaires competition for its VizorLED device.
The competition was sponsored by the International Association of Lighting Designers, the US Department of Energy and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America.
