Philips Lumileds LUXEON Rebel White LEDs 'allow after-hours sport'
The LUXEON Rebel White LEDs from Philips Lumileds enable communities which are not connected to a regular electricity supply to experience sports once the sun goes down.
A new Philips Lumileds system with LUXEON Rebel light emitting diodes (LEDs) allows individuals with little or no access to electricity to watch or play sport even at night time, despite not being connected to a regular power supply.
The LEDs are used in a solar-powered floodlight system designed by Philips Lumileds which can illuminate areas of up to 40 by 20 m with a bright white light.
Up to eight hours of floodlighting on a single solar charge - the equivalent of two or three full training sessions or football matches - is provided by advanced battery cells.
Philips Lumileds provides the full solution - including solar panels, batteries and portable poles - or just a set of floodlights.
LUXEON LEDs enable communities in developed and developing markets to take part in commercial, cultural, social and educational activities after the sun has set.
Its LUXEON Rebel White LEDs are available in cool-white, neutral-white and warm-white and can be deployed in homes, hotels, shops, offices and outdoor areas.
One method to create white LEDs is by using a blue indium-gallium-nitride LED with a phosphor coating.
