Oclaro reveals 808 nanometre emitter pump module upgrade
An 808 nanometre single emitter pump module has been announced by Oclaro to deliver a maximum of seven watts from a 200 microns core fibre.
A powerful seven watt, 808 nanometre single emitter pump module has been revealed by Oclaro, which has been designed to meet increased reliability and power demands of neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet solid-state lasers.
The new un-cooled single emitter pump module deliver a minimum of seven watts from a 200 microns core fibre, an upgrade of one watt from the previous module version.
Included is the latest-generation Oclaro multimode pump laser chip which has undergone 5,000 hours of accelerated life test under various conditions, proving its reliability when operating at increased power environments.
The 808 nanometre module enables high-volume, cost-effective and scalable manufacturing and is currently in full-scale production.
"Our new single emitter modules allow customers to upgrade their existing systems with increased power and reliability without the prohibitive cost of changing pump source footprints and internal design configurations," explained Yves Le Maitre, executive vice-president and division manager at Oclaro.
Oclaro also announced the next-generation Prosario fibre-coupled diode platform which enables operation at higher powers but without reliability being compromised.
