Kopin's Golden-i Headset wins TSIA award
Hands-Free Mobile Computing and Communications Device Chosen as Game-changing Product
Kopin have announced that its Golden-iTM headset received the Vision Award from the Technology Services Industry Association (TSIA). The Vision Awards, which recognize game-changing products that advance the industry and shape emerging trends, were presented recently at the Technology Services World (TSW) conference in Silicon Valley.
"Not only is Kopin's Golden-i device the single coolest piece of technology I've seen in years, but the potential business applications are incredible," said John Ragsdale, VP of technology research, TSIA. "With 34% of TSIA members having budget for mobile technology in 2010-2011, the timing for this product couldn't be better."
The Golden-i headset is the world's first "hands-free" mobile-computing communications system that provides wireless remote control of multiple devices including PCs, mobile phones, industrial equipment and company servers.
Golden-i offers wireless access to virtually all information and can maintain multiple 15-inch virtual display screens spatially so the user can switch to a different screen by a simple head motion. It can also send and receive HD streaming video real-time over Bluetooth 2.1 EDR or WiFi. The Golden-i device can significantly improve employee safety, productivity, and efficiency of any workforce.
Kopin exhibited the Golden-i device before a live audience of TSW conference attendees as part of TSIA's Service Revolutions series, which included on-stage demonstrations from nine companies. Winners were determined based on audience ratings following a question and answer session with an esteemed panel featuring technology strategist and author Geoffrey Moore; Jim Spohrer, director of IBM University; and John Ragsdale, TSIA VP of technology research.
"Golden-i was designed specifically as a light-weight, all weather, hands-free computing and communications device for the enterprise industrial service, and maintenance and repair service markets," said Jeffrey Jacobsen, Kopin Senior Advisor to CEO and Golden-i Program Manager.
"TSIA members represent the pinnacle of global service, maintenance and repair, and their members voted Golden-i number one in open competition. The positive response Golden-i received at this event is a testament to the benefits and possibilities hands-free computing and communications offers across a wide spectrum of industries," he added.
