Company claims Luxeon Rebel LEDs set benchmark
Philips Lumileds claims to be setting the benchmark for high-brightness light-emitting diode (LED) production and has bolstered its offering with two new products.
Its new Luxeon Rebel LEDs - the LXM8-PW27 and LXM8-PW30 - have correlated colour temperatures of 2,700 K and 3,000 K and offer typical efficacy of 80 lumens per watt and up to 95 lumens per watt at 350 mA.
Standout features of the products include offering the smallest and most consistent white binning space, as well as superior light output performance in application conditions.
The Luxeon Rebel emitters are able to emit up to 90 per cent of their light at higher temperatures than other LEDs presently on the market - meaning output and efficacy losses can be kept to a minimum.
Colour quality is one of the highest priorities for the company and, as such, it has worked to ensure that colour distribution in the output of these LEDs has been reduced four-fold in comparison to the industry average.
"The lighting industry has spoken clearly and we've listened: it wants an end to binning, confidence in application performance and a certain and dependable supply chain," commented Steve Barlow, executive vice-president of sales and marketing at the firm.
He added that "these are elements that we will continue to address with innovation and solutions that improve application performance".
The new Luxeon Rebel emitters are to be available for public consumption in August 2010.
