Desert power generation contract signed by Concentrix Solar
A CPV project has been boosted by the signing of a contract with Concentrix Solar
A concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) power project is getting underway in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and has taken another step towards fruition by the signing of an agreement between Concentrix Solar and the Desertec Industrial Initiative.
The initiative was launched in July 2009 and aims to make CPV a major player in the supply of renewable energy in these regions in the years ahead.
Concentrix Solar will provide high-efficiency CPV modules for the project and hopes to make utility-scale power plants using the energy from the sun a reality in countries where energy demand is presently high.
"We are looking forward to working with Desertec and the countries in the MENA region," said Concentrix Solar chief executive officer Hansjorg Lerchenmuller.
