Solyndra Awarded ISO 9001:2008 Certification
The Copper Indium Gallium di-Selenide (CIGS) manufacturer was awarded the Quality Certification by TüvRheinland.
Solyndra, a manufacturer of innovative cylindrical solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for commercial and industrial rooftops, has earned ISO 9001:2008 certification. This is an internationally recognized standard issued to organizations with a quality management system. The certificate was authorized by TüvRheinland.
"To meet strong product demand we are ramping our Fab 2 facility, and this certification recognizes the strength of the processes and procedures that we have put in place to ensure the highest levels of quality as we rapidly scale our business," said Ben Bierman, Solyndra's Executive VP of operations and engineering. "Obtaining ISO certification demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement and delivering the highest levels of service and product quality to our customers around the world."
ISO 9001:2008 provides a set of requirements that must be in place to have a quality management system, regardless of the organization's size, product or service line, or public or private status. Certification to the standard is voluntary, and organizations must complete a rigorous auditing process by a third party registrar.
