Seoul Semi to show off latest AC-driven LEDs

Firm will showcase many products including Acriche A7 series and Z-Power LEDs at Lightfair International 2010, Booth # 1539.

Seoul Semiconductor, the fourth largest LED company according to IMS Research will launch several innovative products at Lightfair International this week.

Acriche is the first mass production AC-driven LED and because it does not require a converter it is less expensive to manufacture end-products and lasts longer than other LED light sources whose lifetime may be limited by a power converter. Mass production of a 100 lm/w Acriche lamp began during the first quarter of this year.

“Lightfair is a good opportunity for Seoul Semiconductor to actively demonstrate its new technologies to the major lighting companies and the media of the world, following ‘Light + Building’ held in Frankfurt am Main in April 2010” said Mr. S.M. Lee, Senior VP of Seoul Semiconductor.

These include the Acriche A6 (1 W) and A7 (4 W) series products, LEDs that are much smaller than existing Acriche lamps can be used in a variety of general lighting fixtures and include streetlights. For example, the A7, at 8x8 mm, offers space-saving versatility over current 18x12 mm Acriche products.

Also launching at Lightfair are three next-generation products in Acriche’s Z-Power LED series:

    * Z5, which offers a high color rending index (CRI 90) and compact ceramic design

    * Z6, which delivers full color options for general lighting applications as well as decorative and architectural lighting uses;

    * Z7, a high-efficiency LED product containing 4 individually addressable high power die
