SÜSS MicroTec Appoints New VP of R&D
Rainer Knippelmeyer will oversee R&D and innovation management for all products. With many years of experience in various Carl Zeiss AG companies , his main focus will be on the creation of a cross-product technology roadmap within the SÜSS MicroTec group.
German firm SÜSS MicroTec, a manufacturer of equipment and process solutions for the semiconductor industry and related markets, has appointed Rainer Knippelmeyer as Vice President R&D and CTO.
In this function Rainer Knippelmeyer will oversee research and development and innovation management for all products. His main focus will be on the creation of a cross-product technology roadmap within the SÜSS MicroTec group.
Knippelmeyer has many years of experience in research and development from his employment at various Carl Zeiss AG companies.
“The constantly increasing demands for future technologies like 3D integration make it essential for the success of the company to even more tightly coordinate the product developments in our divisions. The creation of this new position goes hand-in-hand with the merger of our product lines Coaters, Wafer Bonders and Photomask Equipment at our Sternenfels site,” said Frank P. Averdung, CEO and President of SÜSS MicroTec.
“With his wealth of experience Rainer Knippelmeyer will be able to further emphasize the clear focus on development activities in the strategic markets for the SUSS MicroTec group. Our customers all over the world will benefit from the close linking of our development departments,” concluded Averdung.
SÜSS MicroTec Corporate headquarters are located in Garching, Germany. The group’s core businesses are lithography solutions and wafer bonders used in the semiconductor industry. Highly accurate photolithography tools are produced by the Lithography Division with a main focus on mask aligners and spin as well spray coaters. The Bonder Division is specialized in the development of production wafer bonders for high-volume packaging markets while also providing manual systems.
The Photomask Equipment Division HamaTech offers a superior suite of equipment solutions for photomask and imprint mask processing.
Furthermore, the solution portfolio of SUSS MicroTec for the semiconductor and related industries encompasses precision photomasks as well as high-quality micro-optical components.
