SETi nominated as South Carolina manufacturer of the year

The company has been nominated for its aluminium gallium nitride UV-LED innovations.

Sensor Electronic Technology, Inc. (SETi) has been recognised by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce as one of 12 outstanding manufacturers to be put forward for the prestigious and most comprehensive statewide manufacturing award; the South Carolina Manufacturer of the Year Award.

SETi is a rapidly growing technology business with headquarters and manufacturing in Columbia, South Carolina. The company has pioneered the development and manufacturing of novel semiconductor materials using AlGaN and develops and supplies ultraviolet light emitting diodes (UV LEDs) using these materials.

UV LEDs can be used in a variety of applications from sensing and detection of harmful gases and airborne diseases to disinfection of water, surfaces and air in markets including medical, industrial, military and consumer. UV LEDs are the “next wave” of the LED revolution, which is currently sweeping the consumer lighting and display markets, and will add a level of safety and security to an increasingly complicated world.

Over the past few years, SETi’s UV LED products have been transferred from award winning research to production and SETi now operates production procedures certified to ISO9001 standards. Despite the economic climate, SETi’s business has more than doubled in the last two years and the company is now planning a large expansion to further ramp its UV LED production capacity.
