Anadigics powers Samsung Galaxy Note 4
ProEficient-Plus PAs deliver high efficiency to maximise battery life
Anadigics has announced that it is shipping production volumes of its ALT6735 ProEficient-Pluspower amplifier (PA) to Samsung Electronics for the new Galaxy Note 4. Available through China Telecom, the Galaxy Note 4 features a 5.7in Quad HD Super AMOLED display, 16 megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation and Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.
"We are pleased to continue playing a critical role in the Samsung Galaxy Note success story by enabling wireless connectivity in each of the past three generations of this award-winning product line," said Jerry Miller, senior vice president of worldwide sales and applications at Anadigics. "Our differentiated ProEficient-Plus solutions offer the industry's highest combined efficiency. This performance advantage enables large-screen mobile devices to offer an unparalleled multimedia experience with maximum talk time and data use."
Anadigics' ProEficient-Plus power amplifiers, which use the company's patented InGaP-Plustechnology, are claimed to deliver the industry's highest efficiency across all power levels, enabling greater talk time and longer data application use. This level of performance, combined with low quiescent currents without the use of a DC/DC converter, maximises battery life in mobile devices. The ALT6735 power amplifier delivers 44 percent power added efficiency (PAE) at +28.8dBm and 31 percent PAE at +16.5dBm.
ProEficient-Plus power amplifiers are designed for use with an external switch mode power supply (SMPS), in applications using average power tracking (APT), to further increase efficiency and reduce current consumption at low and medium operating powers.
