Custom MMIC announces new frequency multiplier

24 to 36GHz active x2 multiplier offers high output power and low spur levels

Custom MMIC, a developer of monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs), has announced the addition of the CMD214, a new 24 to 36GHz (output) active x2 frequency multiplier in die form, to its line of standard products.

The CMD214 accepts input signals in the range of 12 to 18GHz and provides output to the second harmonic (24 to 36 GHz) at a level of +17dBm. Isolations to the fundamental and third harmonics are greater than 32dBc and 25dBc, respectively. Typical input drive level for the CMD214 is +14dBm, although the multiplier will operate at levels as low as +11dBm. Bias conditions are Vdd=5 V @ 40mA, and Vgg1 = -1.8V, and Vgg2 = -0.8V.

All ports are matched to 50 Ohms and no off-chip components are required for operation, aside from bypass capacitors on the gate and drain bias lines. Ideal applications for the CMD214 are point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radios, military and space, and test instrumentation.
