Global Technology chooses Anadigics line amp for DOCSIS 3.1

GaAs-based line amplifier adopted for CATV network upgrades

Anadigics is shipping production volumes of its ACA1216 surface mount line amplifier to Global Technology, a developer of CATV equipment and a subsidiary of Applied Optoelectronics.

The line amplifier uses Anadigic's high linearity GaAs MESFET process along with GaN HEMT technology for high output power and optimum power efficiency.

The DOCSIS 3.1 standard specifies an extended frequency range, enabling providers to offer higher data speeds as well as additional high-definition television (HDTV) and video on demand (VOD) services.

"Global Technology's selection of our ACA1216 line amplifier for its DOCSIS 3.1 infrastructure equipment expands new growth opportunities for Anadigics in China," said James Martin, senior business development director of infrastructure products at Anadigics.

"Our newest line amplifiers leverage Anadigics' rugged process technologies, high-performance circuit designs, and proven packaging to meet the stringent specifications of this standard and support the upcoming industry upgrade cycle. We are delighted to be working closely with Global Technology and look forward to broadening our relationship with new designs in the near future."

Anadigics offers a range of surface mount line amplifiers with high signal fidelity over extended frequencies up to 1.2 GHz, in support of the newest generation of DOCSIS 3.1 downstream equipment.

The devices are designed to have high bit error rate (BER), composite triple beat (CTB), composite second order (CSO), cross modulation and carrier-to-intermodulation noise (CIN) characteristics for optimal performance in a fully-loaded spectrum.
