Rubicon to exhibit Optical Sapphire at Munich trade show
Sapphire substrate firm Rubicon Technology has announced it will exhibit its optical sapphire, including the largest sapphire window ever produced, at the Laser World of Photonics trade show from June 22-25 at the Munich Trade Fair Center.
The company provides substrates and products to the LED, semiconductor and optical markets.
During the international trade show, Rubicon will display the world's largest sapphire window, which measures in at 17 inches wide by 25 inches long and more than 1 inch thick. Marking a manufacturing breakthrough in the sapphire industry, the large window was produced using technology developed over the past three years. Previous production methods were incapable of supporting the growth of sapphire crystals at this size.
"Rubicon's ability to produce extremely high-quality sapphire in a variety of shapes and sizes has helped to expand the potential applications for our customers," said Hap Hewes, senior vice president, Optical at Rubicon Technology. "Through new and innovative production processes, we have been able to successfully meet customer needs and develop sapphire in sizes and shapes never before seen. Our team is dedicated to innovation and finding new, effective uses for sapphire."
In addition to the large sapphire window, Rubicon will display a wide variety of sapphire products in its booth, including optical products of different sizes and crystal orientation, sapphire cores, ingots, domes, windows and blanks.
