EMCORE's PhotoVoltaic Facility in Albuquerque Receives ISO-9001 Certification

ISO-9000 is a series of quality standards that outline the requirements for Quality Management Systems

Somerset, NJ, USA. Less than one year since cutting the ribbon on the Company s state-of-the-art fabrication facility in Albuquerque, EMCORE PhotoVoltaics has achieved ISO-9001 certification. The EMCORE Corporation (EMKR:Nasdaq) business unit was recommended for registration on September 30, 1999 and certificates were awarded on November 17, 1999.

"ISO certification represents a significant milestone for our solar cell production operation as we ramp into volume production of our advanced solar cells for space applications," said Reuben Richards, EMCORE s President and CEO. "Building on the strength of achieving certification of our Somerset, New Jersey facility in June of 1998, John Cassullo, EMCORE s Director of Quality and his Albuquerque team deserve tremendous credit. This is a major recognition of EMCORE PhotoVoltaics commitment to quality. I am extremely proud of everyone at EMCORE PhotoVoltaics who contributed to this achievement."

"The people at EMCORE PhotoVoltaics deserve accolades for their accomplishments. Special recognition is due to our quality correspondent and teammate in Albuquerque, Melissa Rodriquez," added John Cassullo.

ISO-9000 is a series of quality standards that outline the requirements for Quality Management Systems. Since its introduction in 1987, the ISO-9000 series has become a major element of supplier management strategy for many multinational corporations and is fast becoming the central regulatory approach for many jurisdictions. To date, over 80 countries, including France, Germany, the UK, Japan, the United States and Canada, have adopted the ISO-9000 series. EMCORE PhotoVoltaics ISO-9001 certification covers quality assurance in design, development, and production.
