Celeritek Announces Production-Ready InGaP HBT

GaAs Process Targeted for High-Volume Wireless Applications

Santa Clara, CA. Celeritek, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLTK), a leading provider of GaAs radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) for wireless communication applications (http://www.celeritek.com), announces the availability of its InGaP (Indium Gallium Phosphide) HBT (Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor) process uniquely suited for low voltage (3.0V), linear, efficient, power amplifiers. The InGaP HBT process is production qualified at Celeritek s high-volume facility.

"Within the first quarter of 2000, Celeritek will announce the availability of a family of InGaP HBT amplifier modules called TrueTriangle. These unique amplifiers will be packaged in low-cost, space efficient, 6mm square, 50 Ohm matched modules. Supporting the ongoing industry trend towards higher levels of integration, the amplifier modules represent single supply solutions needing no additional external matching elements. The solutions are designed to be as simple to put on a schematic diagram (a true triangle), as they are to use," stated Bill Hoppin, vice president of sales.

"Adding HBT to our process capability is a natural progression for Celeritek, especially now that we have proprietary single supply HBT technology that will satisfy our customer s ongoing demand for linear efficiency. We are continuing to anticipate needs in a fast moving wireless market and preparing accordingly. Further investments in our factory, combined with strengthened relationships with our subcontractors have been an integral part of our increased capacity plans," added Tamer Husseini, president and chief executive officer.

Celeritek designs and develops products using MESFET, pHEMT, and most recently HBT GaAs processes tailored to support high capacity broadband wireless applications. Celeritek is a leading provider of GaAs based RF integrated circuits (RFICs) for use in wireless voice and data applications. The Company s products are used worldwide by leading manufacturers of wireless communication systems.
