RF Micro Devices Releases Broadband Linear Gain Amplifier

GaAs HBT Device Designed for CDMA and TDMA PCS Systems

Greensboro, NC. RF Micro Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: RFMD), a leading provider of proprietary radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) for wireless communications applications, has developed a new broadband linear amplifier designed specifically for digital communications systems. With a frequency range of 1710MHz-1910MHz, the new RF2351 is suitable for use in CDMA or TDMA systems in the PCS band.

Operating on a 3V-6V power supply, the RF2351 offers band selection for use with split-band filters, as well as, bias optimization through adjustment of its power-down voltage. At 3.5V, the device delivers +16dBm OP1dB, a 21dB gain and a 2.5dB noise figure.

Typical applications for the RF2351, in addition to digital PCS systems, include GSM systems, wireless local loop systems and wideband CDMA systems. Manufactured using an advanced gallium arsenide process technology (GaAs HBT), the component is featured in an MLF-16 package, priced at $1.10 per unit in order quantities of 10,000 or more. RFMD can also provide fully assembled evaluation boards.
