Coherent Semiconductor Group Introduces High-Power 940 nm Diode Lasers
Santa Clara, CA. Coherent, Inc., Semiconductor Group (CSG) (NASDAQ: COHR) has introduced a new series of high-power laser diodes in the 940 nm wavelength range. Consisting of 20W and 35W bars, and 16W fiber array packaged (FAP) bars, the new 940 nm laser family is ideal for integration into a host of Yb:YAG solid-state laser pumping applications, as well as direct-diode thermal applications in the medical and industrial markets.
Mounted on an industry-standard (25 mm x 25 mm) conduction-cooled package, CSG s 1-cm long, 20W OEM component, and the 16W FAP, are based on a 30% fill-factor bar, while the 1-cm long 35W OEM component is based on a 50% fill-factor bar. Typical drive current for the 30% fill-factor bar is 31 amps, while the 50% fill-factor bar features a drive current of approximately 50 amps. These 940 nm bars and FAPs feature a spectral width of less than 3 nm, FWHM, and a beam divergence of less than 38 by 10, FWHM. The laser energy from the FAP is delivered via an 800-5m diameter (0.16 NA) fiber bundle, which is terminated with a SMA 905 connector mounted on the package enclosure.
The 940-nm devices also can be used in CSG s full-feature, microprocessor-controlled FAP-System. Using the FAP device as the system s engine, the FAP-System allows users to swap-out laser diodes at different wavelengths in order to support a wide variety of applications. Moreover, the microprocessor-based FAP-System provides the user complete control of both the operating temperature and the current of the laser diode. Either a simple front-panel interface or a computer-controlled RS-232 interface makes the user interface fast and convenient.
Founded in 1966, Coherent Inc. is a Standard & Poor s SmallCap 600 company and a world leader in design, manufacture, and marketing of lasers and systems for medical, scientific and commercial applications.

Secure Your Hydrogen Supply
A study supply of high-purity hydrogen is critical to semiconductor fabrication. Supply chain interruptions are challenging manufacturers, leading to production slowdowns and stoppages. On-site hydrogen generation offers a scalable alternative for new and existing fabs, freeing the operator from dependence on delivered gas.Plant managers understand the critical role that hydrogen plays in semiconductor fabrication. That important job includes crystal growth, carrier gas, wafer annealing, and in the emerging Extreme UV Lithography (EUV) that will enable new generations of devices. As the vast need for semiconductors grows across all sectors of world economies, so does the need for high-purity hydrogen.
Take control with Nel on-site hydrogen generation.
