RF Micro Devices Introduces 900MHz Linear Amplifier for Cellular Handsets

GREENSBORO, N.C. RF Micro Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: RFMD - news), a leading provider of proprietary radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) for wireless communications applications, has developed the RF2162 -- a high-power, high efficiency linear amplifier IC targeting 3V handheld systems.

The RF2162 is designed for use as the final RF amplifier in dual-mode 3V CDMA/AMPS hand-held digital cellular equipment, 3V JCDMA, 3V TDMA/AMPS, spread spectrum systems and other applications in the 800MHz to 960MHz band.

Manufactured with an advanced GaAs HBT (gallium arsenide heterojunction bipolar transistor) process, the RF2162 features a single 3V power supply and on-board power down mode. The device is self-contained with 50(OMEGA) input and the output can be easily matched to obtain optimum power efficiency and linearity based on the IC s 29dBm linear output power, 29dB linear gain and 35% linear efficiency.

Packaged in an ultra-small leadless, plastic MLF-16, the RF2162 is available for immediate shipment at $3.97 per unit in order quantities of 10,000.

Secure Your Hydrogen Supply

A study supply of high-purity hydrogen is critical to semiconductor fabrication. Supply chain interruptions are challenging manufacturers, leading to production slowdowns and stoppages. On-site hydrogen generation offers a scalable alternative for new and existing fabs, freeing the operator from dependence on delivered gas.

Plant managers understand the critical role that hydrogen plays in semiconductor fabrication. That important job includes crystal growth, carrier gas, wafer annealing, and in the emerging Extreme UV Lithography (EUV) that will enable new generations of devices. As the vast need for semiconductors grows across all sectors of world economies, so does the need for high-purity hydrogen.

Take control with Nel on-site hydrogen generation.
