Celeritek Receives a $2.6M Order for 28 GHz LMDS Components

SANTA CLARA, Calif. Celeritek, Inc. (Nasdaq: CLTK), a leading provider of GaAs radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) and subsystems for wireless communication applications, today announced it has received a $2.6 million order for 28 GHz Low Noise Downconverters. This order is expected to ship in calendar 2000.

"We are pleased by the continued order flow which demonstrates the strength in the wireless market for broadband mmWave infrastructure products," said Tamer Husseini, president and chief executive officer. "Our internal mmWave GaAs MMIC capability, mmWave circuit technology, and integration experience continues to offer the best solutions to this important marketplace."

This follow-on order is from a major full service provider of 28 GHz Local Multipoint Distribution Services ("LMDS"). LMDS is a broadband fixed wireless point-to-multipoint communications system. "The market for multipoint is beginning to be accepted and adopted by the service providers. We believe the leaders are proving that wireless broadband data systems work, and now we re seeing the first signs of production rollouts. The order activity in this segment is very encouraging," said Frank Sasselli, vice president of wireless subsystems sales and marketing.

Celeritek designs and develops products using MESFET, pHEMT, and, most recently, HBT GaAs processes tailored to support high capacity broadband wireless applications. Celeritek is a leading provider of mmWave components and subsystems. The Company s products are used worldwide by leading manufacturers of wireless communication systems.
