RF Micro Devices Develops GaAs 3 V PCS Down-Converter

High Gain Makes RF2458 Ideal for Front End Applications

Greensboro, NC. RF Micro Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: RFMD), a leading provider of proprietary radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) for wireless communications applications, now offers the RF2458 -- a monolithic integrated downconverter for PCS, PHS and WLAN applications.

The IC contains all components required to implement the RF functions of the downconverter. Features include a double-balanced Gilbert cell mixer and a balanced IF output. The RF2458 s high gain (+14dBm) makes the device ideal for front end applications.

With a frequency range of 1500MHz-2500MHz and a power supply range of 2.7V-3.6V, the RF2458 is designed for applications such as CDMA/TDMA/DCS 1900 PCS systems, PHS 1500/WLAN 2400 systems and microcell PCS base stations.

Manufactured using an advanced gallium arsenide process technology (GaAs HBT), the RF2458 is offered in an MSOP-10 package. The device is available for immediate shipment, priced at $1.15 per unit in order quantities exceeding 10,000. Fully assembled evaluation boards are also available from RFMD. For a complete listing of RFMD products and services, refer to the company s Designer s Handbook. Free copies in print or CD-ROM format are available directly from RFMD by calling 336.664.1233, extension 6655, or sending an e-mail request to jmcrae@rfmd.com.
