Conexant Opens Wireless Design Center in Boston
Newport Beach, CA. Conexant System Inc. (Nasdaq: CNXT) Monday announced the opening of its newest design center for radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) devices in Chelmsford, Mass., near Boston. The 20,000-square-foot design center, which includes a 4,000-square-foot RFIC engineering test lab, will be occupied by more than 50 engineers and technicians with expertise in RFIC design, CAD/CAE, layout/physical design and prototype assembly, and product engineering and testing. The new facility will feature the latest NT & Unix computer platforms for RFIC CAD/CAE systems running Cadence and HP IC design software.
"Conexant s RFIC design team has positioned us to be a leading supplier of power amplifiers, highly integrated receivers and transmitters, and RF subsystems for the most advanced applications in the industry. We provide RF subsystems for the Bluetooth, GPS and spread spectrum digital cordless telephone markets, as well as digital cellular phones in all the major GSM, CDMA and TDMA wireless standards," said Moiz Beguwala, senior vice president and general manager for Conexant s Wireless Communications Division.
"The Boston RFIC design center is a very important expansion of these capabilities and will offer engineers in this area an opportunity to join a winning team."
Conexant s RFIC designs are based on the company s industry-leading silicon germanium (SiGe), bipolar complementary semiconductor oxide semiconductor (BiCMOS), silicon bipolar (SiBipolar), mixed signal CMOS, RFCMOS, gallium arsenide heterojunction bipolar transistor (GaAs HBT) and metal semiconductor field-effect transistor (MeSFET) process technologies. In addition, the company s state-of-the-art RF multi-chip packaging capabilities allows for a mixing and matching of various technologies to optimize the cost, power and size of its RFIC devices.

Secure Your Hydrogen Supply
A study supply of high-purity hydrogen is critical to semiconductor fabrication. Supply chain interruptions are challenging manufacturers, leading to production slowdowns and stoppages. On-site hydrogen generation offers a scalable alternative for new and existing fabs, freeing the operator from dependence on delivered gas.Plant managers understand the critical role that hydrogen plays in semiconductor fabrication. That important job includes crystal growth, carrier gas, wafer annealing, and in the emerging Extreme UV Lithography (EUV) that will enable new generations of devices. As the vast need for semiconductors grows across all sectors of world economies, so does the need for high-purity hydrogen.
Take control with Nel on-site hydrogen generation.
