Trio-Tech International Wins $2.6 Million Contract From Unit of Alcatel
San Fernando, CA. Trio-Tech International (ASE:TRT) announced today that its San Jose, Calif.-based Universal Systems subsidiary won a contract valued at approximately $2,600,000 from Alcatel Optronics, a unit of Alcatel (Paris:CGEP.PA)(NYSE:ALA), for wet process systems to be installed as part of the expansion of Alcatel s wafer fabrication facility in Nozay, France. The equipment is scheduled for delivery over the next several months.
Universal Systems advanced VLF Series automated wet process stations will be used for wafer cleaning and related functions during R&D and production of silicon wafer substrates and gallium arsenide substrates integrated with indium phosphide devices.
Universal Systems will install the equipment in cooperation with Varioplan, an engineering firm based in La Neuveille, Switzerland. John Baijens, general manager of Varioplan, said, "We are excited about this project and look forward to working in partnership with Universal Systems and local Alcatel engineers. We anticipate developing several new wafer process techniques next year, once installation of the new process equipment is complete."
Tony DiPiero, president of Universal Systems, said, "We believe that this significant contract win for Universal Systems speaks to the many competitive advantages of our new VLF Series products. We look forward to expanding our relationship with this important new customer in the years ahead."
Trio-Tech Chairman A. Charles Wilson added, "This large order is the latest in a series of encouraging developments at Trio-Tech. All of our business units are experiencing robust demand. We continue to expect substantial growth in revenue and earnings for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2000 compared to fiscal 1999, and currently anticipate further top- and bottom-line growth in fiscal 2001."
