Unaxis Moves Semiconductor Unit to Florida
Unaxis Semiconductors, the business unit of Unaxis AG that includes both Plasma-Therm and BPS, has moved its worldwide headquarters to the site of the former Plasma-Therm facility in St. Petersburg, Florida. Unaxis AG is a Swiss-based technology company that was formed by the recent reorganization of the diversified Oerlikon-Bührle conglomerate. Unaxis Semiconductors is one of several groups within Unaxis IT, the others being data storage, displays, optics and materials - the IT segment makes up around half of the company s sales. Plasma-Therm, which manufactures thin-film etching and plasma-enhanced CVD equipment, was acquired by the Oerlikon-Bührle group in March 2000 to complement the products and capabilities of the BPS group.
