Emcore, Discovery, RFMD Gain Accolades

Both Emcore and Discovery Semiconductors have been named among the 50 fastest growing technology companies in New Jersey. The companies were included in Deloitte & Touche s "New Jersey Technology Fast 50" program. Emcore, which offers "a versatile portfolio of compound semiconductor solutions for the rapidly expanding broadband and wireless communications and solid state lighting markets", had a five-year revenue growth rate of 222%. Discovery Semiconductors, which manufactures fiber-optic components including ultra-wide bandwidth optical receivers for 10 Gb/s and 40 Gb/s transmission systems, achieved 411% growth in the five-year period from 1955 to 1999.

Meanwhile, RF Micro Devices has been named in the top five of North Carolina s fastest growing technology companies for the fourth successive year. In winning a "North Carolina Technology Fast 50" award from Deloitte & Touche, RFMD achieved a five-year growth rate of 8,995% - the second-highest growth rate in the state. The company received first place honors in 1999 and 1997.
