LumiLeds Lighting Selected as Strategic Partner in BP Re-Branding Project

Source: LumiLeds

LumiLeds Chipstrip Lighting System is Integral Part of BP s "Service Station of the Future"

San Jose, CA. LumiLeds Lighting, the world leader in power LED solutions for lighting, announced today that it has been awarded a global purchase agreement from BP for its Chipstrip Lighting System.

BP recently announced their re-branding project, in which their retail sites will be taking on a new look - with new services, new designs and new colors. The company expects to convert over 20,000 retail sites to the new image over the next 4 years and LumiLeds Chipstrip Lighting System will be an integral part of many of these "service stations of the future."

The Chipstrip Lighting solution from LumiLeds is an innovative contour lighting product for edge-lighting buildings, replacing the existing neon solution. The Chipstrip technology is based on Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) which are superior to neon in many ways. The technology is more energy efficient than neon, and since LEDs are solid state, it is more robust than the neon filled glass. LEDs also last five times longer and so require less maintenance long term.

Neil Yates, BP Global Procurement Manager for Retail Assets, said: "One of the reasons we chose LumiLeds to assist us in the roll-out of our new retail sites is their commitment to innovation and the environment, two of the core values of BP."

Martin Schoeppler, LumiLeds Lighting General Manager for the Signage and Contour Division, said "We are very excited to be part of BP s new image. We worked closely with BP during the development of their new retail sites and our Chipstrip product focus on energy savings and long life fits extremely well with their brand values."

The global purchase agreement is one of the first awarded by BP for the new site design.
