Celeritek Reports Production Contracts

Source: Celeritek

Santa Clara, CA. Celeritek (Nasdaq: CLTK), a designer and manufacturer of GaAs semiconductor components and GaAs-based subsystems for broadband transmission of voice, video and data over wireless networks, today announced that as a result of previous development contracts, it has received approximately $17 million in new production orders reaching across each of its major product lines.

These orders include $5.2 million in orders for 3.0V InGaP HBT CDMA power amplifier modules from a major US handset manufacturer. "We believe these production orders, which support two important design wins, further reinforce Celeritek s time-to-market leadership in InGaP HBT. Design wins for our TrueTriangle HBT modules, announced previously, are now moving into production," said Bill Hoppin, vice president of sales and marketing.

"We believed in InGaP HBT 50 Ohm modules early on as the right technology for broadband wireless mobile handsets and data devices and continue to leverage this technology and drive solutions from design win to production. We are pleased with our portfolio of customers and design wins, now topping 20 across multiple major manufacturers and supporting WCDMA, 1X CDMA and TDMA access technologies," continued Hoppin.

The TrueTriangle 50 Ohm modules are packaged in a 6mm square form factor and eliminate the need for as many as 14 external components. The amplifiers will be used in CDMA handsets targeted for high volume, data-enabled consumer applications. The orders are expected to begin shipping in the last quarter of calendar 2000.

Additionally, the company received several initial production orders for GaAs-based subsystems for receive and transmit functions for the satellite Internet access and high capacity radio markets. These production orders are the result of previously announced development contracts and use Celeritek s proprietary GaAs chips. Delivery of these orders is expected to begin in the last quarter of calendar 2000.

Celeritek designs and manufactures GaAs semiconductor components and GaAs-based subsystems used in the transmission of voice, video and data traffic over wireless communications networks. Its GaAs semiconductor components and subsystems are designed to facilitate broadband voice and data transmission in mobile handsets and wireless communications infrastructures. Its GaAs semiconductor components primarily consist of transmit solutions, including power amplifiers for cellular and PCS handsets. These products are focused on the high growth CDMA and emerging WCDMA wireless market. Celeritek provides its GaAs-based subsystems to leading companies in the fixed broadband terrestrial and satellite wireless access markets. These products are designed to enable high bandwidth broadband communications. The company s products are used worldwide by leading manufacturers of wireless communications systems.
