WJ Communications Selected to Provide Transceivers for Marconi

San Jose, CA. WJ Communications Inc (NASDAQ:WJCI) announced today that the Company has received an order from Marconi plc to provide RF transceivers for Marconi s Digital Multi-point System ("DMS") product line. Marconi was recently selected by Viag Interkom to provide DMS broadband wireless access systems in up to 200 franchise areas across Germany. The initial order is for 5000 DMS 26 (26 GHz) transceivers and is valued in excess of $3 million. The Company expects to deliver these units during its fourth quarter of 2000 and its first quarter of 2001.

The DMS 26 utilizes proprietary RF integration techniques including thin film and GaAs technology developed and produced by WJ s Semiconductor Products Group located in Milpitas, California, and is a natural extension of WJ s Wireless Access Product Line which includes products at MMDS, 3.5, and UNII bands as well as millimeter wave products. The product will be integrated at WJ s newly expanded integration facility in San Jose.
