KDF Announces First Sale of 954NT In-Line Batch Sputtering System

Source: KDF

Rockleigh, NJ. KDF Electronic and Vacuum Services, Inc., a leading supplier of new and remanufactured physical vapor deposition (PVD) in-line batch systems, today announced the first sale of their 954NT system to a leading European telecommunications company. This advanced in-line batch sputtering system, introduced in August, is engineered for processing Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) and other compound semiconductor applications. The system will be used for production and R&D of GaAs-based Amplifiers and other related devices.

"The production-proven platform of the 900 Series and extensive customer support base throughout Europe were key factors in this sale," said Kurt Flechsig, president of KDF. "Like our other systems, the 954NT provides a cost-effective means for customers to upgrade to next-generation tools because it can be seamlessly integrated into existing production solutions."

The 954NT, a four-target batch sputtering system for both front and backside deposition, offers a 12x12 substrate area and small footprint. Besides the standard 954NT configuration, the 954NTX is also available with extended cathodes and increased uniformity.

Cathode and wafer orientations are horizontal in the 954NT, translating to gentle substrate fixturing for users. The palletized system offers dual-level, hi-vacuum pumped loadlock and high-speed batch processing features. The 954NT system allows for high utilization that increases both cost-effectiveness and productivity. The system can also be applied to the full-range of next generation microelectronic component manufacturing. KDF systems are used in the production of electronic devices across multiple markets.
