BEND, OR. Accent Semiconductor Technologies, Inc., makers of process control and measurement tools for the optoelectronic, wireless, and silicon semiconductor industries, has announced a name change to Accent Optical Technologies, Inc. effective October 20, 2000. The company was formed in April 2000 and acquired certain assets related to the semiconductor and optoelectronic metrology business of Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. in July, 2000.
"There are two important reasons for a name change," said Bruce Rhine, CEO, chairman and president of Accent Optical Technologies, Inc. "First we will focus on the optoelectronic market where we anticipate tremendous growth, and second, optics is a common thread throughout our process control and measurement tools regardless of the markets we serve."
Since its recent founding earlier this year, the company has formed two primary divisions: one that serves the silicon market, and one that serves the compound semiconductor market used in optoelectronic and wireless applications.
"Adding optical to our corporate name will be more representative of our business and better position the company for future growth," said Rhine.
