New RF2484 IC Features High Linearity, Low Noise And Excellent Over-Temperature Carrier Suppression Ideal For Base Stations
Munich, Germany. RF Micro Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: RFMD), a leading provider of proprietary radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) for wireless communications applications, announced today, at Electronica 2000, the availability of the RF2484 direct quadrature modulator IC.
Designed by RFMD to directly address the needs of infrastructure manufacturers, this IC is capable of direct modulation for W-CDMA, CDMA, GSM-EDGE/EGSM and TDMA/TDMA-EDGE base stations. It is a strong addition to RFMD s very successful line of high-performance modulators.
"We believe the RF2484 has the best performance in the industry to meet the combination of linearity, carrier suppression and noise requirements for current and next generation base stations," said MaryBeth Healy, RFMD s marketing manager for infrastructure products. "This device is one of RFMD s expanding offerings of a low-cost product tailored to meet the needs of infrastructure equipment manufacturers."
The RF2484 exhibits carrier and sideband suppression, typically greater than 35dBc over temperature, while exceeding system specifications for ACPR, making it ideal for use in dual band CDMA and W-CDMA base station equipment. Noise floor performance is also exceptional -- typically better than -152dBc/Hz in both bands. The device is specified for use with a 5V power supply.
Manufactured using RFMD s GaAs HBT technology, the RF2484 is offered in a small industry-standard MLF-16 plastic package. Priced at $5.17 in quantities of 10,000 units, production quantities will be ready for shipment in January 2001. Samples and fully assembled evaluation boards are available now from RFMD.
