Volume Shipments Have Begun For Talkabout™ T900 Two-Way Pagers

Greensboro, NC. RF Micro Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: RFMD), a leading provider of proprietary radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) for wireless communications applications, announced today it has started production shipments of its RF2173 GaAs HBT power amplifier to be used in Motorola s Talkabout™ T900 two-way data pager.

"We believe the RF2173 helps Motorola produce a very low cost, small-size pager with outstanding battery efficiency. The RF2173 is a highly efficient, thermally enhanced power amplifier used in two-way data applications and GSM handsets. This component, currently in high volume production, is one of the most popular, commercially available power amplifiers in RFMD s product offering. The RF2173, along with the complementary RF2174 high band (DCS1800 and PCS1900) product, has been designed in several GSM handset applications. The RF2173 is designed for use as the final RF amplifier in GSM hand-held digital cellular equipment and other applications in the 800 MHz to 950 MHz band.
