SDL Buys Aixtron Planetary Reactors

SDL, Inc., the technology leader in fiber optics communications is ramping up its production capacity for MOCVD wafers with the order of two additional AIXTRON AIX 2400G3 MOCVD systems. The systems will be delivered and commissioned in late summer of 2001. The systems are due to arrive at SDL by the end of September.
Since 1983, SDL has been known as a pioneer in advancing the frontiers of semiconductor laser and optoelectronic technology. SDL was the first company in the world to successfully commercialize the integration of multiple lasers on a single semiconductor device, and have continued in the years since to combine lasers with other optical or optoelectronic elements such as lenses, mirrors and fiber optics. These innovations have helped significantly in opening the door to more widespread commercial possibilities for semiconductor laser technology.
