Accent Optical Technologies Acquires GaAsCode's Pulsed IV Measurement Instrument

Source: Accent Optical Technologies

Bend, OR. Accent Optical Technologies (www.accentopto.com), a leading supplier of optoelectronics and silicon semiconductor process control systems, today announced the acquisition of GaAsCode Limited s intellectual property and know how relating to GaAsCode s Pulsed IV Measurement Instrument. The acquisition was finalized on April 11th and the purchase price was not disclosed.

The GaAsCode Pulsed IV Measurement Instrument is a pulsed current voltage measurement instrument that performs measurements under conditions that are representative of the physical conditions that exist in practical RF, microwave and millimeter wave circuits. The instrument is designed to measure FETs, HEMTs, HBTs, BJTs as well as diode devices, such as lasers and photodetectors, and allows users to distinguish the large signal I-V characteristics of the device at RF, microwave or mm-wave frequencies, which are invariably very different from the DC characteristics. Accent will incorporate this technology into its product line and officially launch the product in early Q3 of this year.

The GaAsCode acquisition extends Accent s product offerings from semiconductor materials process control to device and IC process control. With the acquisition of GaAsCode s Pulsed IV Measurement Instrument, Accent s product offerings will allow manufacturers to track the impact of defects through materials into the finished device and IC performance.

"This recent acquisition was the next logical step in the extension of the Accent product line," says Bruce Rhine, CEO of Accent Optical Technologies. " We can now provide our customers with a more complete solution."

"This technology is a great fit for Accent s product line. Accent makes very high quality instrumentation for the semiconductor business -- a business which we believe in and have made a lifetime commitment to," says Dr. Peter Ladbrooke, Director, GaAsCode.
