MATHESON TRI-GAS ADDS PALLADIUM DIFFUSION HYDROGEN PURIFIERS TO ITS PRODUCT LINE UP FOR THE SEMICONDUCTOR INDUSTRY

Source: Matheson Tri-Gas

Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc., today announced the signing of a manufacturing and distribution agreement with Power + Energy (P+E). Under the terms of the agreement, Matheson Tri-Gas (MTG) will manufacture and distribute PerfectH2* palladium diffusion hydrogen purifiers, which deliver 99.9999999% (9-9s) hydrogen utilizing an innovative and reliable "inside-feed" cell design, and proprietary Rapid Response Microcontroller. Complete systems and "drop-in" replacements for existing palladium purifier brands are available immediately. Because ultra-pure hydrogen is commonly used as a carrier gas for expensive metal organics, reliability is of utmost importance. PerfectH2 not only meets the compound semiconductor industry standardization for palladium diffusion technology for delivering ultra-pure hydrogen used to produce LEDs, laser diodes, HBTs, VCSELs and pHEMTs, but also solves well-known reliability issues caused by inherent flaws in existing palladium cell designs.

Peter Bossard, founder and president of Power + Energy states, "The PerfectH2 palladium purifier is made specifically to address the compound semiconductor market s needs, and is based on a combination of state-of-the-art features that dramatically improve on previously available palladium diffusion technology. As a result, we have produced a hydrogen purifier that will deliver ultra-pure 9-9s hydrogen you can count on, even if your source gas fluctuates to 99.9% (3-9s). Furthermore, sudden unexpected power outages will have no negative effect on our palladium purifiers." Bossard went on to say, "The compound semiconductor industry is looking for the same reliabilities and economies of scale the silicon industry enjoys. At P+E our mission has always been to positively impact the customer s bottom line by reliably and economically providing ultra-pure hydrogen. With metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) production, both the product quality and yield suffer dramatically when the hydrogen supply is compromised. PerfectH2 will provide a much-needed return on investment with the assurance that the hydrogen supply will not be compromised." "In selecting Matheson Tri-Gas, we found a solid partner with 70 successful years focusing on improving their customers profitability, delivering quality products and excelling in service, as demonstrated by their global sales and service infrastructure," Bossard continued. "These elements are essential to understanding and communicating the technological necessity and benefits of PerfectH2, and to implement and support this much-awaited palladium purifier technology to the global semiconductor market. P+E looks forward to participating in Matheson Tri-Gas Compound Semiconductor Initiative which offers integrated solutions, targeted at improving the customer s bottom line."

According to William J. Kroll, executive vice president of Matheson Tri-Gas, "The partnership between Power + Energy and Matheson Tri-Gas, will be the unrivalled ability to offer the sale and distribution of PerfectH2, backed by proven technology currently installed in multiple MOCVD fabs, also in addition to the expert resources, complementary gas & equipment products and outstanding reputation of the experts at Matheson Tri-Gas. The addition of this unique Pd-based purifier technology to our already comprehensive line of semiconductor process gas and equipment solutions, demonstrates further the commitment we have to the compound semiconductor market specifically, and in general to the entire market for semiconductor purifier needs. With our comprehensive product offering, we look forward to offering integrated solutions to improve our customers performance."
