ITRI/OES and Aixtron Taiwan sign co-operation agreement on industrial affiliation program
Aachen, Germany and Hsin-chu, Tiawan. ITRI/OES and AIXTRON Taiwan, Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C., announce their agreement to promote co-operations in the fields of MOCVD Technology for the Taiwanese Compound Semiconductor Industry (TCSI). This co-operation includes an Industrial Affiliation Program or other programs which offer industrial or scientific partners in Taiwan, benefits from application oriented R&D by ITRI/AIXTRON in Taiwan, education and training of students, scientists and engineers, and exchange of technical information.
This co-operation fits perfectly with the mission of AIXTRON Taiwan and its new R&D activity in Taiwan, the Manufacturing-Oriented Research Lab (MORL). The MORL will use capital equipment installed at ITRI/OES as well as production equipment for research into new devices for industry. These areas of R&D are inherent in this novel approach:
- Production-Oriented Development ITRI/OES and AIXTRON intend to work in the frame of an Industrial Affiliation Program closely with the TCSI to identify their needs for developments under production-oriented aspects
- Applied R&D ITRI/OES and AIXTRON will identify projects which will enhance the entire TCSI
- Basic Research Fundamental R&D in Taiwan will be enhanced due to the formation of a consortium of universities, industrial partners, ITRI/OES and AIXTRON Taiwan.

Liu, General Director of OES, comments: "This co-operation has an extremely high potential for the research and development of the Taiwanese Compound Semiconductor Community which combines 20 years of AIXTRON s expertise in Compound Semiconductor Material Technology with the broad basis of experience at OES in material and device technology."
Prof. Dr. M. Heuken, VP Research and Development states that "OES and AIXTRON Taiwan in the SBIP in Hsinchu will efficiently work together and elaborate synergies in the frame of an Industrial Affiliation Program. We are looking for more partners to join us!"
