ThetaDelta Provides Lifetest Systems to South Korean GaAs Semiconductor Companies
Lawrence, MA. ThetaDelta Technologies Inc., a world leader in the design and manufacture of leading edge thermal conditioning products and reliability testing equipment, has shipped their advanced lifetest systems to two separate customers in South Korea. ThetaDelta s Saturn Tower will be used for advanced reliability and qualification testing at Knowledge*on, a GaAs semiconductor foundry service company, while their Mercury System will be utilized in the research facility of another major Korean GaAs semiconductor manufacturer. Both systems will perform lifetests of advanced GaAs transistors.
"Characterizing and improving reliability and functionality across a range of temperatures are extremely vital steps in ensuring the quality and reliability of our advanced devices, and in fact, for a contract wafer foundry like Knowledge*on, it can be a competitive advantage," says Jae-Woo Park, Ph.D, Chief Technical Officer, Knowledge*on. "ThetaDelta s conductive thermal control technology is the most viable method for us to do this, and we found their equipment to be by far the best in its class."
The Saturn Towers serve as the supporting structure for ThetaDelta s Qube® modules, each containing patented Bak-Pak™ heating and cooling thermal technology. The Qube performs thermal and electrical control of the test-site, stressing the device and collecting the reliability data. The octagonal shape of the Saturn Towers provides for a total of 16 equipment bays - eight on the upper level and eight on the lower level of the tower. Each bay can be equipped with two Qube modules to provide a maximum of 32 Qube sites per tower. Similar to the Saturn Towers, but smaller in size,
ThetaDelta s Mercury Systems providethe supporting structure for up to four Qubes.
ThetaDelta s advanced conductive thermal control technology involves their patented method of heating the devices without an oven or chamber.
