Philips Analytical opens new compound semiconductor facility
Almelo, The Netherlands. Philips Analytical today officially opened its newest facility - in Waterloo, Canada. The office, production and demo facility measures close to 2300 sq. meters, and is dedicated to compound semiconductors. It reflects the company s growing success in the compound/SiGe semiconductor market.
According to Huub Smit, General Manager for the Waterloo facility: "The move will enable us to ship top quality equipment as it is manufactured in a full blown clean room and help us to reliably deliver systems to meet our growing orders from compound semiconductor/SiGe customers worldwide. The new building is a stone s throw away from the old facility, and this helped us to make the move smoothly and without loss in production. Waterloo is an excellent location for a high tech business, with easy access to the resources of the renowned University of Waterloo."
"We are very excited about this move" continued John Hennessy, Product Marketing Manager for the Waterloo products. "The building is custom designed, and should help us to attract talented new personnel - as well as new customers. The demo facilities are simply top notch, with all the amenities customers dream of". The building currently holds about 50 employees, and can grow to about 100 without requiring expansion.
Philips Analytical is a leading provider of characterization equipment, metrology tools and solutions for the semiconductor and data storage industries worldwide. The Waterloo facility designs, markets and produces instruments that use two complementary techniques: Photoluminescence (PL) and X-ray diffraction. PL allows a semiconductor s bandgap to be monitored directly, while X-ray diffraction is ideally suited to measuring structural parameters in semiconductor materials.
The address of the new facility is: P565 Kumpf drive, Waterloo, ON N2V 1K3, Canada.
