WARREN, NJ. ANADIGICS, Inc., a leading supplier of wireless and broadband communications solutions, today introduced the AWT6200 PowerPlexer™, the first in a new family of integrated RF modules for GSM/GPRS wireless handsets.
The AWT6200 PowerPlexer™ integrates ANADIGICS leading InGaP HBT power amplifiers, GaAs pHEMT multi-throw RF antenna switch as well as integrated passives and analog control integrated circuits in a small module package. By delivering all of these RF functions in one compact module, the AWT6200 PowerPlexer™ significantly simplifies handset designs while providing excellent power efficiency and reducing handset sizes, lowering costs and reducing time-to-market.

The AWT6200 delivers class-12 capable GPRS performance for dual-band GSM/DCS applications and is packaged in a 12mm x 12mm x 1.5mm SMT module package. The device contains two power amplifiers with optimum efficiency, low pass harmonic filters, a high-linearity pHEMT RX/TX switch, and a CMOS controller. In addition, ANADIGICS has developed a breakthrough integrated passive process that enables the reduction of the discrete component count, thereby reducing the size and cost of the module with optimum performance.
Designed specifically for GSM handsets, the power amplifiers adopted in the AWT6200 are developed using ANADIGICS 6-inch InGaP HBT technology, which enables handsets to deliver maximum talk and standby time. The incorporated multi-throw RF switch ensures voice/data quality and improved signal strength, leveraged through ANADIGICS GaAs pHEMT technology expertise.
