Hexawave announces family of ultra-low cost SPDT GaAs switches
Hexawave, a world leading supplier of wireless radio frequency (RF) and microwave components, today expanded its wireless devices portfolio by unveiling four new single-pole double-throw (SPDT) reflective switches for Wireless LAN, Bluetooth products, CDMA, TDMA, GSM and W-CDMA. The company also announced a SPDT terminated switch for base stations from DC to 2.5GHz.

GaAs MMIC switches play an important role in the design of wireless products and are well suited for applications requiring very low insertion loss, good isolation, high linearity, low power consumption and small package size. The four low-cost SPDT switches use only positive control voltage for a variety of applications including transmit/receive switching, antenna diversity, filter band selection and LO switching in analogue and digital wireless communication systems. The SPDT terminated switch is ideally suited for band combiners, filter banks and switch matrices in radio and cellular equipments.
Models HWS301 and HWS303 are low power SPDT switches in SOT-26 and ultra miniature SOT-363 packages, respectively, with 0.4dB insertion loss and 23dB isolation at 2.5GHz. Both achieve a P(-1dB) of 26dBm when biased with a +3V control voltage. The HWS311 and HWS314 are general-purpose SPDT switches with 0.5dB insertion loss and 23dB isolation at 2.5GHz, P(-1dB) of 30dBm, biased with a +3V control voltage in SOT-26 and SOT-363, respectively.
The HWS332 is an IC FET SPDT switch in SOP-8 plastic package. This product features high isolation (42dB @1.0GHz, 33dB @2.0GHz), low insertion loss (0.5 dB @1.0GHz, 0.6dB @2.0GHz) with very low DC power consumption.
Availability and price
Samples of all new GaAs switch products are immediately available from Hexawave, as well as its international sales channels. HWS301 and HWS303 pricing starts below US$0.25 in quantities of 100,000. HWS311 and HWS314 pricing starts below US$0.30 in quantities of 100,000. HWS332 pricing starts below US$1.06 in quantities of 10,000. All the devices are manufactured in Taiwan tape and reel packaging and are 100% RF tested before shipping.
