InGaAs Detectors for OSI Fibercomm (Fiber Optics News)
OSI Fibercomm, the recently formed subsidiary of OSI Systems, has received an initial order of $2 million from a manufacturer of long-haul fiber optic equipment for the development, engineering and production of InGaAs monitor arrays for WDM applications. The order is set to ship over the next twelve months. "We are excited by the acceptance of OSI Fibercomm s products by the major long-haul equipment manufacturers," added Steven Cuffel, OSI Fibercomm s VP of sales and marketing. "We have also started shipping production quantities of InGaAs photodiodes at the rate of 10,000 units per month for use in the telecommunications market." Founded in 2000, OSI Fibercomm designs and manufactures InGaAs and silicon photodiodes for use in fiber-optic modules and subsystems at its fab in Hawthorne, CA. The company out sources InGaAs growth to a European epitaxial vendor.
