Akzo Nobel Invests in High Purity Metalorganics (Materials and Equipment)
n December, Akzo Nobel announced substantial investment in its production, distribution and service capabilities at its Deer Park, Texas complex in response to the rapidly growing demand for high purity metalorganic (HPMO) source materials. "We believe that for this industry to reach its full growth potential, it must be underpinned by a strong metalorganics supply base," says HPMO Business Manager Barry Cottrell. "Investment in manufacturing facilities, coupled with a streamlined organization and increased R&D, allows Akzo Nobel to respond to this challenge by making the highest purity metalorganic sources available on large scale." The dedicated Deer Park HPMO production facility includes state-of-the art distributed control system (DCS) processing, large-scale stainless steel reactors, and cylinder loading facilities. Systems will employ proprietary, ether-free synthetic processes ensuring industry leading purity and consistency. The expanded operation, to be commissioned during 2001, will support projected industry growth through 2006.
