Fiber laser targets the medical field (New Devices)
OPTO PRODUCTS Mountain View, CA Spectra-Physics Semiconductor Lasers (formerly Opto Power Corporation) has introduced a 30 W fiber-coupled laser operating at 980 nm for medical therapeutic and surgical applications, including dermatology, plastic surgery, podiatry and wound care (see ). The laser delivers more than 80% of its rated power within a 0.12 numerical aperture, and easily couples to surgical fibers 300 m in diameter and above using available optics.
