Ube Industries Quadruples Capacity for Metalorganics (News from Japan)
Ube Industries Ltd. has quadrupled its production capacity for metalorganic compounds, and recently built new facilities for making these materials at a plant in Ube, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Equipped with synthesizing, refining and filling equipment, the plant can now produce up to about 1 ton of metallorganic compounds annually, around four times the level seen before the new facilities were built. The company will primarily produce methyl- and ethyl-based compounds of gallium, aluminum, indium and zinc. The new facilities will begin to operate at full capacity in two or three years at the earliest. The market for these compounds has been increasing at an annual rate of around 30%.
