Dr Simon Fafard announced as guest speaker at CS International Conference, Frankfurt

CS International are pleased to announce Dr Simon Fafard, Chief Technical Officer, Cyrium Technologies has been confirmed as a guest speaker for the Compound Semiconductor industry's premier international event, CS International, which will held in Frankfurt, Germany on 4th & 5th March 2013.

Dr Fafard will join the two day event with speakers coming from a wide range of organisations including leaders from Intel Corporation,Aixtron, Epistar Corporation, RF Micro Devices (RFMD), TriQuint Semiconductor and over 20 other leading chipmakers giving their perspective on the latest developments in device technology. Professionals from around the world will attend this two day event to hear key insights and opportunities, from a range of leading analysts, and learn of the latest chip developments in LEDs, solar cells, lasers and power and RF electronics. Delegates will have the opportunity to network with leading industry professionals of the III-V chip making industry and interact with suppliers. Dr Fafard has more than 20 years of Semiconductor and Optoelectronics experience covering the complete product development cycle. He previously established a prestigious nano-optics program when he was a Senior Research Officer in the national lab of IMS/NRC in Ottawa. He worked on new product introduction at start-ups such as Kymata Canada and in an established company with complete portfolio of state-of-the-art products as a product Line Manager at Alcatel Optronics. Dr Fafard invented the use of self-assembled quantum in devices such as multi-junction solar cells. He founded Cyrium in 2002, and raised $20M of funding, establishing the company has a leader now producing the highest efficiency solar cells based on this invention and currently achieving production efficiencies over 40% in manufacturing. He was an NSERC Postdoc fellow at UCSB, and he holds a Ph.D. in Physics from University of Ottawa.
