Dr Simon Fafard Announced As Guest Speaker At CS International Conference, Frankfurt
CS International are pleased to announce Dr Simon Fafard, Chief Technical Officer, Cyrium Technologies has been confirmed as a guest speaker for the Compound Semiconductor industry's premier international event, CS International, which will held in Frankfurt, Germany on 4th & 5th March 2013.
Dr Fafard will join the two day event with speakers coming from a wide range of organisations including leaders from Intel Corporation,Aixtron, Epistar Corporation, RF Micro Devices (RFMD), TriQuint Semiconductor and over 20 other leading chipmakers giving their perspective on the latest developments in device technology.
Professionals from around the world will attend this two day event to hear key insights and opportunities, from a range of leading analysts, and learn of the latest chip developments in LEDs, solar cells, lasers and power and RF electronics.
Delegates will have the opportunity to network with leading industry professionals of the III-V chip making industry and interact with suppliers.
Dr Fafard has more than 20 years of Semiconductor and Optoelectronics experience covering the complete product development cycle. He previously established a prestigious nano-optics program when he was a Senior Research Officer in the national lab of IMS/NRC in Ottawa.
He worked on new product introduction at start-ups such as Kymata Canada and in an established company with complete portfolio of state-of-the-art products as a product Line Manager at Alcatel Optronics. Dr Fafard invented the use of self-assembled quantum in devices such as multi-junction solar cells.
He founded Cyrium in 2002, and raised $20M of funding, establishing the company has a leader now producing the highest efficiency solar cells based on this invention and currently achieving production efficiencies over 40% in manufacturing. He was an NSERC Postdoc fellow at UCSB, and he holds a Ph.D. in Physics from University of Ottawa.

and will feature online
versions of the market-leading physical events: CS International
and PIC International
PLUS a brand new Silicon Semiconductor International
Thanks to the great diversity of the semiconductor industry, we are always chasing new markets and developing a range of exciting technologies.
2021 is no different. Over the last few months interest in deep-UV LEDs has rocketed, due to its capability to disinfect and sanitise areas and combat Covid-19. We shall consider a roadmap for this device, along with technologies for boosting its output.
We shall also look at microLEDs, a display with many wonderful attributes, identifying processes for handling the mass transfer of tiny emitters that hold the key to commercialisation of this technology.
We shall also discuss electrification of transportation, underpinned by wide bandgap power electronics and supported by blue lasers that are ideal for processing copper.
Additional areas we will cover include the development of GaN ICs, to improve the reach of power electronics; the great strides that have been made with gallium oxide; and a look at new materials, such as cubic GaN and AlScN.
Having attracted 1500 delegates over the last 2 online summits, the 3rd event promises to be even bigger and better – with 3 interactive sessions over 1 day and will once again prove to be a key event across the semiconductor and photonic integrated circuits calendar.
So make sure you sign up today and discover the latest cutting edge developments across the compound semiconductor and integrated photonics value chain.
